Guardamar Del Segura Area Guide

The wonderful coastal town of Guardamar Del Segura is one of the most popular beach towns on the Costa Blanca.  With a 12 kilometer stretch of golden sandy beaches, it is easy to see why.

The town was originally a small Phoenician settlement of farmers and fishermen nestled at the estuary of the River Segura.  With an abundance of fertile soil, freshwater and lots of sunshine, it was a great location for a settlement.

Modern day Guardamar is a bustling town with residents from over 100 countries now calling it home. During the summer, the town’s population swells with the influx of Spanish holidaymakers and international tourists drawn by the beaches, fantastic restaurants and relaxed feel.

The town has a lively shopping area through the centre of town, a weekly street market, a busy marina with nearly 500 moorings and a huge park.

The Reina Sofia Park has children’s play areas, cafe, petanque courts and at it’s heart is a series of lakes with many resident bird species.

For eating out, you have a very wide selection from ice cream parlours, Chinese restaurants, fish restaurants and many fine dining restaurants along the main promenade.

Guardamar Beaches

The beaches stretch through the town and out to the pine forests and have different characteristics. The town beaches are primarily  for families, whilst some of the wild dune beaches are designated nudist beaches. There really is something for everybody!
