Los Montesinos Area Guide

In 1990 Los Montesinos became an independent municipality, having previous fallen under the control of Almoradi.

With their new control, the town planners looked to increase the size of the town and to include more facilities for the residents.  The population has now grown to just over 2,800 and there are plans to continue the expansion.

One of the new areas created was La Herrada, which is now a thriving suburb complete with a supermarket, a selection of bars and restaurants and lots of park areas.

Los Montesinos and La Herrada are surrounded by citrus groves and sit on the edge of the Laguna Salada De Torrevieja (Pink Salt Lake) which is a large nature reserve ideal for bird watching, cycling and walking.

The town has a rich Spanish traditional feel, mixed with the influences of other Europeans who also call it home.  In the centre of the town is a large church, Town Hall and the fabulous plaza surrounded by bars and restaurants making it an ideal place for people watching and relaxing under the Spanish sun.

Centrally Located

The nearest golf courses are  Vistabella Golf and La Finca Golf, both of which are a 10 minute drive.

If relaxing on the beach or sailing are your idea of heaven, both Torrevieja and Guardamar are within a 15 minute drive and offer plenty o fine sandy beaches and a choice of marinas.

Overall, Los Montesinos is a family friendly town with plenty of activities and a very central location.
